Who is it that whispers so subtly in our ear that a gift given to another somehow diminishes the blessings we have received? Who makes us feel that if God is smiling on another, then He surely must somehow be frowning on us? You and I both know who does this--it is the father of all lies. It is Lucifer, our common enemy, whose cry down through the corridors of time is always and to everyone, "Give me thine honor." - Jeffrey R. Holland, “The Other Prodigal,” Liahona, July 2002
“If there are some of you who have been tricked into the conviction that you have gone too far, that you have been weighed down with doubts on which you alone have a monopoly, that you have had the poison of sin which makes it impossible ever again to be what you could have been – then hear me.
“I bear testimony that you cannot sink farther than the light and sweeping intelligence of Jesus Christ can reach. I bear testimony that as long as there is one spark of the will to repent and to reach, He is there. He did not just descend to your condition; He descended below it, “that He might be in all and through all things, the light of truth (D&C 88:6).” – “Christ and the Inner Life” by Truman G. Madsen [Shared with me by friend Rob Ghio]
A 25 year old told me once, “It’s too late for me. I’ve done too much.” Who is the source of that thought? Lucifer.
2 Nephi 28:22– And behold, others he flattereth away, and telleth them there is no hell; and he saith unto them: I am no devil, for there is none--and thus he whispereth in their ears, until he grasps them with his awful chains, from whence there is no deliverance.
Satan is a liar. Always has been. Always will be. That’s who he is and what he does. He constantly whispers lies into our minds, with the sole intent of making miserable anyone who will believe his lies.
I add my testimony to that of Truman G. Madsen “that as long as there is one spark of the will to repent and to reach, He is there.” The Savior loves you with His perfect love. His arms are there for you now to pull you up from misery to happiness if you will let Him. You can look to Christ and live. Of this I bear witness.
