Joseph and Mary on Their Way

We have loved this picture from the first time that we saw it in the book store. The Wife was 8 months pregnant with our second child and we were both feeling the full eight months. When the wife saw Mary here, she had an imediate connection with her and felt like she knew a little of what Mary was feeling at the time they were traveling to Bethlehem. The aches and pains of pregnancy seemed to be nothing compared to what Mary may have felt without our modern conveniences of a car and air conditioning and such.
The Husband had a connection with Joseph as well. As you look at him, you can see how he is caring for his wife and doing whatever he can to make her comfortable despite the inconvenience of having to go to Bethlehem to pay their taxes.
An overwhelming sense of gratitude came over us as we realized what they may have gone through to bring the Savior into the world. The picture now hold a place in our living room wall where we can see it and try to remember those feelings.
